How to subscribe to iCalendar on iPhone / iPad ?

The Calendar program on your iPhone & iPad makes it easy for you keep on top of your game assignments. In addition to keeping your own calendar(s), you can also subscribe to other people’s calendars, like ours.

You can subscribe to calendars that meet the CalDAV and iCalendar (.ics) standards, which are supported by the popular Google and Yahoo! calendars, or iCal on the Mac. Although you can read entries on the iPhone and iPad from the calendars you subscribe to, you can’t create new entries or edit entries that are already present from the iPhone or iPad.

To subscribe to one of these calendars, follow these steps:

  1. Copy your iCal URL from your HorizonWebRef.com Personal Game Schedule page (see below)

  2. On your iPhone or iPad Home screen, tap the Settings app.

  3. Tap Accounts and Passwords (or Mail, Contacts, Calendars on older iOS versions)

  4. Tap Add AccountOther.

  5. Choose Add Subscribed Calendar.

  6. Enter the iCal URL from HorizonWebRef.com, which you can obtain at the top of your personal Game Schedule page.

  7. Tap Next to advance.

After you subscribe to a calendar, it appears just like any other calendar on your iPhone and iPad.

The frequency at which the calendar will update is determined by your external calendar program, not us.  It might take up to 24 hours for changes to show in your external calendar.  It all depends on how often your external calendar decides to poll the synchronization URL for updates.  On our end, the content at the synchronization URL is update immediately in real time with no delay.

Finding the iCal URL

The URL you will need to perform Step #1 and Step #6 above can be found using the iCal option in the top toolbar of your Personal Game Schedule page. This link is unique to you and grants access to your schedule details. If your URL is compromised, you can use the Regenerate button to break the previous URL and generate a new one.
